“PRESERVING LOCAL TRADITION”

IMG_0418IMG_0417Girl Next Door Farm (GND) is a chemical-free produce operation founded by, tenant farmer, Marlena L. Bolin.  The farm is a one-woman run, two-acre plot, located on an Oldham County hilltop, along the I-71 corridor in La Grange, KY.   We’ve been in operation since January 2011.

Our goal is provide the community with fresh fruits and vegetables, and value-added products by way of CSA, farmer’s markets, and wholesale distribution.  We use only natural means of production such as: compost, composted chicken manure, cover crop, crop rotation, and OMRI approved pest controls.

Principles

We believe in hard work, stewardship, self-sufficiency, and a sense of duty.  Choosing to grow chemical-free crops helps protect our food system, groundwater, air, soil, and wildlife.  It lends to public health and safety, and to the integrity of our food choices.  Eating local guarantees superior flavor, promotes native crop varieties, sustainability, and food sovereignty.

Hi Marlena, We are so happy you are successful with your farm now. Dad told us about your website and we hope to get out to see your operation sometime. I was raised on a farm and still enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. Flo Mesker

I’m so proud that my best friend (Marlena) is following her dreams and with such style the website is a great reflection of what she and her farm are all about!
