“PRESERVING LOCAL TRADITION”
Girl Next Door Farm (GND) is a chemical-free produce operation founded by, tenant farmer, Marlena L. Bolin. The farm is a one-woman run, two-acre plot, located on an Oldham County hilltop, along the I-71 corridor in La Grange, KY. We’ve been in operation since January 2011.
Our goal is provide the community with fresh fruits and vegetables, and value-added products by way of CSA, farmer’s markets, and wholesale distribution. We use only natural means of production such as: compost, composted chicken manure, cover crop, crop rotation, and OMRI approved pest controls.
We believe in hard work, stewardship, self-sufficiency, and a sense of duty. Choosing to grow chemical-free crops helps protect our food system, groundwater, air, soil, and wildlife. It lends to public health and safety, and to the integrity of our food choices. Eating local guarantees superior flavor, promotes native crop varieties, sustainability, and food sovereignty.
Choosing to consume locally grown, raised, and/or produced products keeps your dollars in your community and preserves a Kentucky farming tradition. Eat fresh, quality fruits and vegetables. Eat safe.
By investing in a local farm through Community Supported Agriculture, (CSA), you are investing in the livelihood of the farm, your own health, and the strength of a growing local food economy.
