Girl Next Door Farm (GND) is a chemical-free produce operation founded by, tenant farmer, Marlena L.
Bolin. The farm is a one-woman run, one-acre plot, located on an Oldham County hilltop, along the I-71 corridor in La Grange, KY. We’ve been in operation since January 2011. Our goal is provide the community with locally grown fruits and vegetables by way of CSA, farmer’s markets, and wholesale distribution.
Principles
We believe in hard work, stewardship, self-sufficiency, and a sense of duty. Choosing to grow chemical-free crops helps protect our food, groundwater, air, soil, and wildlife. It lends to public health and safety, and to the integrity of our food choices. Eating local guarantees superior flavor, promotes native crop varieties, sustainability, and food security.
Choices
Choosing to consume locally grown, raised, and/or produced products keeps your dollars in your community. Eat fresh, quality fruits and vegetables. Eat safe.
CSA Opportunities
By investing in a local farm business through Community Supported Agriculture, (CSA), you are investing in the livelihood of the farm, your own health, and the strength of a growing local food system.

Hello
I am a part of the Student Government Association at the University of Louisville. I work as part of a group of sustainability initiative workers who encourage green habits and life at the University. One of the things we are going to do is open a farmers market for weekly use at the University on Wednesdays starting in the fall semester. However we are going to have an opening day on Earth Day in only a few weeks. I am writing to invite you all to set up a booth at the farmers market every week and also on Earth Day.
Here are the details. The farmers market will be on campus on Earth Day at a time that will be determined, most likely from 9:30 am to 2 pm. It will be held in front of the red barn in the grass. We invite you to set up a booth for the remaining future. The booth will be for your own profit. There is no fee and the SGA will not take any profit from the booth operators.
Please let me know as soon as possible.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Hi Georgia,
Thank you for your interest and invitation to participate in this new market. It sounds like a great opportunity. When does the fall semester market begin and end? How many vendors are you shooting for?
Unfortunately, I’m not confortable taking on another market at this time. I will keep this Wednesday market in mind if fall rolls around and my situation changes.
Many thanks,
Marlena
It is great to know you are living your dream, since the days we did stuff with the Community Farm Alliance!
